1.would和used to的区别

would和used to都能表示过去的习惯动作，但两者有区别：

1. would表示过去某一段时间的习惯动作，并不含现在已经无此习惯之义，比used to来得正式。used to表示过去有某种习惯和动作，现在已经不如此了，强调与现在的对比。

   Mother used to tell us stories when we were young.

   当我们年纪小的时候，妈妈常常给我们讲故事。

2. used to表示的是过去持续的行为或状态，而would不能

   She used to be a teacher.

   她以前是个老师。

3. would不能用于故事的开头，而used to可以。

   We used to live near...

   我们过去住在...附近

4. would含有主观的感情色彩，即表示自觉的行为和动作；而used to只表示过去的的事实，比较客观

   The ancient Egyptian kings used to build pyramids as tombs.

   古埃及的国王们建造金字塔作为自己的陵墓。

5. used to表示过去有规则的习惯，而would表示过去不规则的习惯

   I used to play ping pong a lot in my spare time, but now I am interested in football.

   过去在业余时间里我常常打乒乓球，但现在我对足球感兴趣。

   He would often come to see me when I was living in the country.

   我在农村住时，他常来看我。
