“短道速滑”和“速度滑冰”，二者有什么不同？

These two days, the short track speed skating and speed skating competitions in Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games have attracted the attention of the audience. So, what's the difference between short track speed skating and speed skating? Is it just that the track length is inconsistent?

这两天，北京2022年冬奥会的短道速滑和速度滑冰比赛赚足了观众们的眼球。那么，短道速滑和速度滑冰到底有什么不同？只是赛道长度不一致吗？

Speed skating is the most extensive event in skating sports which also enjoys the longest history. Men's and women's speed skating were debuted on the Winter Olympic programme respectively in 1924 and 1960. 速度滑冰是滑冰运动中历史最为悠久，开展最为广泛的项目。男、女速滑分别于1924年、1960年被列为冬奥会比赛项目。

Speed skating is an ice sport that competes for sliding speed on a 400 meter track. The 400m track is divided into inner track and outer track. Two people and one group compete. When each lap reaches the lane changing area, the athletes starting from the inner track must change to the outer track, while the athletes from the outer track must change to the inner track. Whoever is faster will win.

速度滑冰是一项在400米赛道上较量滑行速度的冰上体育运动。400米赛道分内道和外道，2人1组进行比赛，每滑1圈到达换道区时，内道起跑的运动员须换到外道滑跑，而外道运动员则须换到内道，谁快谁赢。

Unlike in speed skating, competitors in short track speed skating race against one another - not the clock. As a result, short track races are full of strategy, bravery, skill and high-intensity excitement. 与速度滑冰不同的是，短道速滑比赛是参赛者之间的直接较量，而不是与时间赛跑。因此，短道速滑比赛策略、胆识、技巧和刺激并存。 The short track events occur on a 111-meter oval track. The skaters race in a pack of 4-8 at a time, and the first person crossing the finish line is the winner. 短道速滑的赛道通常是111米的椭圆赛道。短道速滑比赛采用淘汰制，4-8名运动员在1条起跑线上同时起跑出发，以到达终点先后顺序论胜负。
