You：Yes. Many young, single people with desk jobs, like me, join sports clubs for exercise on the weekends.

You：Are you the captain of the team?

David：No, I am just a player. I’m too old to be the captain.

bú ，zhī shì gè duì yuán 。wǒ tài lǎo le ，bú néng dāng duì zhǎng le 。
You：What role do you play on the team?
你在队里是什么角色？
nǐ zài duì lǐ shì shí me jiǎo sè ？
David：You mean what position you play. "What role" is more like "what role did you play in the theater?"
应该说“你踢什么位置”。“什么角色”更多是用在“你在剧中扮演什么角色”这样的句子里。
yīng gāi shuō “nǐ tī shí me wèi zhì ”。“shí me jiǎo sè ”gèng duō shì yòng zài “nǐ zài jù zhōng bàn yǎn shí me jiǎo sè ”zhè yàng de jù zǐ lǐ 。
You：So what’s your position?
那你踢什么位置？
nà nǐ tī shí me wèi zhì ？
David：I play forward, striker.
我踢前锋。
wǒ tī qián fēng 。
You：So you mainly play on the other side's turf trying to score goals.on the other side's turf: "on someone's turf"
