“欢迎各位嘉宾莅临中国援老挝邮电技术学院项目开工仪式，我是主持人言希……”4月25日，老挝全国首个邮电类院校在该国首都万象正式开工。活动现场，一位老挝籍小伙身着白色西装、黑色西裤，一口流利的中老双语，引得现场嘉宾纷纷赞叹。
"Ladies and gentlemen, dear guests, welcome to the groundbreaking ceremony for the China-aided educational facility project at the Lao Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. I am Thinnakone Seesouphanh…" On April 25, the first posts and telecommunications school in Laos began construction in Vientiane, the capital of the country. A Lao young man in a white suit and black trousers was hosting the ceremony in fluent Chinese and Lao.

这位小伙的中文名叫“言希”，2019年毕业于贵州民族大学土木工程专业，现就职于老挝当地的万象鲲鹏实业。
This young man has the Chinese name of "Yan Xi". In 2019, Yan Xi graduated from Guizhou Minzu University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Now, he is working at the Vientiane Kunpeng Steel Sole CO., LTD in Laos.
3年来，言希曾先后与数个中国援助老挝工程项目建设，包括中老铁路建设以及中国援老挝邮电技术学院项目。2021年12月3日，“一带一路”标志性工程中老铁路通车运营。回忆过往，言希仍然难掩激动之情。
In the past three years, he has already participated in several China-Laos construction projects, such as the China-Laos Railway project and the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications project. On December 3, 2021, the China-Laos Railway, a landmark project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, was formally put into operation. When recalling that, Yan Xi was still very excited.
曾经的贵州求学之路，言希至今历历在目。校园里，樱花大道落英缤纷，令他心旷神怡；操场上，酣畅淋漓的足球比赛，令他心驰神往；步行街上，琳琅满目的中国小吃，令他回味无穷。
Yan Xi had a lot of vivid memories back in Guizhou: the blooming cherry blossoms on the campus, an exciting football game, and the delicious Chinese snacks…

“读书时曾不理解，为什么老师不能容忍出现哪怕0.1毫米的误差。工作后才明白老师上课时提到的中国古语‘失之毫厘谬以千里’的真正含义。”言希说，在贵州民族大学求学时，专业老师严格的要求，不仅让他在专业提升上获益良多，更重要的是建立了他对专业的敬畏感。
"Back then I didn't understand why a minor error — even 0.1 millimeters — is not allowed. It is only when I began to work that I understood the meaning of an old Chinese saying mentioned by my tutor before, that is 'A minimal error or deviation may result in wide divergence'." Yan Xi said that his tutor had a very high academic requirement for him, which led to his improvement in professional skills. More importantly, it helped Yan Xi set up a sense of reverence for his professions.
回忆在中国那段难忘的求学经历，言希笑着讲述因为上课迟到，被老师“罚”唱歌的经历，以及和中国同学、留学生一起举办活动的各种趣事。但最让他难忘的，还是在求学过程中，老师们给他留下的守时、严谨、尊重的深刻印象。
There were also some fun memories with his Chinese friends and other international students at school. He remembered once he had to sing songs in class due to being late for class and that was hilarious. But what impressed him most was the punctuality, preciseness, and courteousness of his professors.
严谨细致的工作态度，也让言希刚毕业回到家乡，就顺利入职在老挝钢材建筑领域拥有较大市场份额的企业“鲲鹏实业”。
With a rigorous and meticulous attitude, Yan Xi was recruited as soon as he graduated from the university into the Vientiane Kunpeng Steel Sole CO., LTD, a company with a large market share in the field of steel construction in Laos.

2020年4月，中铁建设承建中老铁路国外段站房工程，鲲鹏实业成为其合作伙伴，而凭借着一口流利的中文和扎实的专业功底，言希也成为该公司现场唯一负责人。
In April 2020 when China Railway Construction Group CO., LTD. undertook the station building project of the foreign section for the China-Laos Railway, the Vientiane Kunpeng Steel Sole CO., LTD, became one of the partners, and, owing to the bilingual advantage and professional skills, Yan Xi was chosen to be the only person in charge from the company on site.
长期以来，老挝一直缺少既懂中文又懂建筑的专业人才，这无形中增加了中老建筑团队在交流沟通上的难度。于是，言希刚毕业1年，就成了中老两方企业的“香饽饽”。
For years, there had been few people with expertise in both Chinese and architecture, which increased the difficulty of communication between Chinese and Laotian construction teams. Therefore, though Yan Xi had graduated from university for only 1 year, he was highly valued by both Chinese and Laotian companies.
不仅要担任现场400多名老挝籍员工的技术培训翻译，还临时被委任为钢结构施工老挝方现场负责人。为确保高质量完成项目，言希每天工作接近12个小时，时常忙到深夜。
Yan Xi was not only the technical training translator for more than 400 Lao employees on site but was also designated as the one in charge of the steel structure construction. To finish the project with high quality, Yan Xi worked for almost 12 hours per day till midnight.
“在工作合作中，经常有人说，我的做事方式更像一个中国人。”言希说，虽然整个过程十分辛苦，却也更真切地体会到“安全、高效、时间”对中国工程建设的意义。

"My colleagues often say that my way of working is more like a Chinese." Yan Xi said that the whole process was not easy, yet he realized the significance of "safety, efficiency, and time" in construction projects emphasized by the Chinese.
如今，中老铁路通车已一年多，在促进双方在交通、旅游、投资等方面互联互通，起到了十分重要的作用。言希举了一个例子：从万象到朗布拉邦，开车需要7个小时,但是搭乘中老铁路只要2个小时。
China-Laos Railway has been open to traffic for over a year. It plays an important role in the connectivity between China and Laos in transportation, tourism, investment, etc. Yan Xi gave a case in point: it will cost him 7 hours from Vientiane to Luang Prabang by car but only 2 hours taking the train of China-Laos Railway.
2021年，老挝开始大规模普及4G技术以及智能手机应用。然而，老挝至今没有一所计算机相关专业的院校。今年年初，“中国即将援建老挝邮电技术学院”消息一出，言希就找到自己的“中国师傅”、援老挝邮电技术学院项目总工程师冯登，主动提出参与项目建设，担任项目团队翻译，并负责教学楼钢结构屋面施工。
Since 2021, Laos has begun to popularize 4G technology and smartphones. However, there is not a single school offering IT-related majors in Laos yet. At the beginning of 2022 when Yan Xi heard about the launch of the Lao Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, he sought his "Chinese tutor", Feng Deng, chief engineer of the project, for joining the construction. Now, Yan Xi serves as the translator for the team and is in charge of the steel roofing construction of the teaching building.
“当我得知这个项目会由中国企业来帮助我们完成，我非常高兴。”言希说，中方工作人员非常负责，相信这个工程建设好后，一定能为中老两国培育更多技术人才，推动老挝教育发展。
"When I learned that a Chinese company would help us construct the institute, I felt very happy." Yan Xi said that his Chinese colleagues have a strong sense of responsibility, and he believed that this institute will foster more technical experts and promote the development of education in Laos.
据了解，该项目已全面开工建设，正处于基础施工阶段。不只是言希，还有20余位曾经奋战在中老铁路建设过程中的老挝籍员工，也都重新回到了项目团队。

Now, this project is under construction. Other than Yan Xi, more than 20 Lao staff who had taken part in the construction of the China-Laos Railway before joined the team.
言希表示，学院建成后，希望能有更多中国计算机领域专家学者到老挝授课，让老挝培养出更多本土专业技术人才，提升老挝互联网行业发展水平。
Yan Xi hopes that more Chinese computer experts and scholars would come to Laos after the completion of the institute to foster more local experts for the Internet industry in Laos.
如今，在言希强烈建议下，言希的妹妹李静美正在贵州民族大学攻读旅游管理专业。未来，言希也想回到母校，攻读管理学专业研究生，为将来自己创业，打牢理论基础。
Right now, because of the strong recommendation from Yan Xi, Li Jingmei, his younger sister, has come to Guizhou and is majoring in tourism management at Guizhou Minzu University. Yan Xi also wants to further his education in his Alma mater for a master's degree in management for his future entrepreneurship.
言希说，希望越来越多老挝人能到中国旅游、去贵州读书，成为中老两国之间沟通合作的媒介，为中老工程搭建友谊之桥。
Yan Xi hopes more and more Lao people will go to China to travel or study, thus promoting the communication and cooperation between China and Laos and building a bridge of friendship for the China-Laos construction projects.
