Tightening up: lockdowns in Europe
European governments are cranking up the pressure on those who refuse to get vaccinated against covid-19. Austria re-imposed a full lockdown on Monday—people may only leave home to go to work, shop for essentials and exercise—and vaccination will become mandatory from February 1st. France, Germany, Italy and most other west European countries are increasingly excluding the unvaccinated from public life, including visits to restaurants, gyms and entertainment venues.
Anti-vaxxers are reacting angrily and, at times, violently. On Friday Dutch police arrested dozens of protesters incensed by a new partial lockdown who lobbed stones and set fires in Rotterdam. Over the weekend thousands of people marched against restrictions to contain the pandemic in Belgium, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland and northern Ireland. The most vocal opponents tend to be the same motley groups of far-right conspiracy theorists, followers of alternative medicine and libertarians. Of those, the far-right is the biggest group by far.

鹿特丹（Rotterdam）是荷兰第二大城市，位于荷兰西部的南荷兰省。
荷兰首都及最大城市是阿姆斯特丹（Amsterdam），位于荷兰西部的北荷兰省。它是享誉世界的旅游城市和国际大都市。

替代医学（alternative medicine），也叫替代疗法，是由西方国家划定的常规西医治疗以外的补充疗法。
按照西方的习惯，替代医学包括了冥想疗法、催眠疗法、顺势疗法、按摩疗法、香味疗法、维生素疗法等，传统的草药和针灸也归在其中。
显然，这是在常规之外的一种选择，并非可以替代常规，所以应叫成“补充疗法”更准确。

极右翼（Far-right）：突破“平等的底限”，宣称“国家就是为强者存在的”（斯托雷平），实行寡头*政专**，取消对弱者的一切保护，一切自由。
希特勒的国家社会主义（纳粹主义）和法西斯主义就属于典型的极右翼。
与之相对的，是极左翼（Far-left）。
