一、结构
（一）主语+be+......
1.陈述句肯定式（肯定句）：主语+be（was, were）+......，其中was原形是is和am, were原形是are。
2.陈述句否定式（否定句）：主语+be（was, were）not+......，其中was not缩写为wasn't；were not缩写为weren't。
3.一般疑问句：Be（was, were）+主语+......？Yes，主语+be.（肯定回答）No,主语+be not.（否定回答）
主语+动词过去式（行为动词，除了be）+...
* 动词过去式规则变化如下：
①一般情况下在动词后加ed。
②以e结尾的动词，在后面直接加d。
③以辅音字母+y结尾的动词，把y变为i再加ed。
④以重读闭音节结尾的动词，单词末尾只有一个辅音字母，该重读音节上只有一个元音音素，这个元音音素是一个元音字母发出来的，那么就需要双写单词末尾的辅音字母，再加ed。
* 动词过去式不规则变化见八九年级教材后附表，需特殊记忆。

2.陈述句否定式（否定句）：主语+didn't+动词（原形）+......
3.一般疑问句：Did+主语+动词（原形）+......？Yes，主语+did.（肯定回答）No，主语+didn't.(否定回答）
二、用法
一般过去时常与过去时间状语yesterday,this morning, just now, a moment ago, last night,last year以及before从句，when从句等连用。
表示过去某时所发生的动作或存在的状态。如：
She was born in May in Shanghai.
表示过去经常或反复发生的动作。如：They usually took a walk after supper.
