Song of Green Door
Spring Grief
Zhang Xian
Light cold is lingering;
Wind and rain abate in the evening.
The Mountain Day draws near,
In my lonely bower
I’m drunk before the faded flowers
Just as last year.
Waked up by the horn
Blowing from city tower,
I feel forlorn
Within the double door in midnight hour.
How can I bear the bright moon bring
Over the wall the shadow of her swing!

Missing in Spring
Zhang Xian
’Tis becoming tepid but still remains chilling,
The rain and wind hasn’t stopped until evening,
The yard is still when Soul’s Day is coming.
Facing the falling flowers I drink wine,
Getting drunk as last year, for the beloved I pine.
I’m waken by th’ grief bugle sound from the tower,
The gate’s closed as it’s the night getting later.
Her image in swing is sent by the moon bright
To front of me over the wall, which makes me fret.
