Once when I was six years old I saw a magnificent(adj.壮丽的，宏伟的) picture in a book ，called True Stories from Nature ,about the primeval(adj,原始的，初期的) forest . It was a picture of a boa constrictor(n.蟒蛇，王蛇) in the act of swallowing( swallow v.吞没，吞下) an animal.Here is a copy of the drawing.
In the book it said :"Boa constrictor swallow their prey(n.猎物) whole ,without chewing(咀嚼) it. After that they are not able to move ,and they sleep through the six month that they need for digestion(n.消化).
