The seven countries polled included Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Japan’s results revealed a different top choice compared to the others. Out of the seven Asian countries in which the survey was carried out (with sample sizes ranging from 150 to 1,500 respondents aged 7 to 14), only Japan showed businessperson as one of the three most common results.

In Japan, Adecco polled 500 boys and 500 girls between the ages of 6 and 15 with the top responses for boys being a businessman (10.2%) followed by a professional football athlete (10% and civil servant (6.6%). For the girls, the top choice was confectioner/patisserie worker (11%) followed by teacher (6.4%) and businesswoman (5.8%).

The survey also showed that teacher and doctor are popular occupation choices among the seven countries polled with both of those occupations ranking as the top choice in three countries. Vietnam, South Korea and Thailand had doctor ranked as the top choice while Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan had teacher ranked as top choice.
