吉米老师昨天看书时碰到一个有意思的表达： come clean 。
原文是 I came clean with Rowley and told him the whole truth about what happened 。

come clean
说出实情
clean 大家都认识，意思是“干净的、整洁的”，而 come clean 表示“说出实情，老实交代”。
“说出关于某事的实情”就可以说 come clean about something ；
“向某人说出实情”则是 come clean with someone 。
You should come clean about what you have done.
你应该老实交代你做了什么。
level with someone
和某人说实话
level 做动词时表示“说实话”， level with someone 意思是“和某人说实话”，在口语里也非常常用。
If you don't level with me, I can't help you.
如果你不跟我说实话，我没法帮你。

看到 show one's hand 有的同学以为是“伸手”，但它其实是个固定短语，表示“摊牌”。还有个相似的短语 a show of hands ，是“举手表决”的意思。

我下周才摊牌，所以保密！
那“伸手”怎么说呢？那就要看具体语境了哦。
“把你的双手伸出来”可以说 show me your hands ；
“他伸手拿了个苹果”可以说 He stretched out his hand to pick an apple 。
open up
敞开心扉
open 表示“打开”， open up 就表示“敞开心扉”。此外， open 做形容词还能表示“坦率的”，“对某人坦诚”就可以说 be open with someone 。
She opened up about her childhood.
她敞开心扉聊了聊她的童年。
I'm sold≠我被卖了
I'm sold.
我相信。
这里的 sell 不表示“卖”，而是“使某人接受”的意思，可以理解为“说服”， I'm sold 在口语中就表示“我被说服了，我相信他说的”。
I didn't believe this at first, but now I'm sold.
刚开始我不信，但现在我信了。
I don't buy it.
我不信。
buy 除了可以表示“买”之外，还可以表示“相信、接受”， I don't buy it 就表示“我不信”。
You can say you didn't know, but I don't buy it.
你可以说你不知道，但我不信。
