战疫英语系列之疫苗

疫情汹汹，全世界都在期待疫苗的上市。但疫苗的上市需经过广泛的临床试验以验证其安全性和有效性，那疫苗相关的词汇用英语都怎么表达呢？

疫苗的英文：vaccine，据韦氏词典（Merriam-Webster）的解释，疫苗主要成分是灭活或减毒的病原微生物（如病毒、细菌等），用于使机体产生抗体，提高对特定疾病的免疫力。

1. 疫苗的分类

（1） 灭活疫苗 inactivated vaccine，如：百白破疫苗

例句：The flu shot is an inactivated vaccine that contains killed virus and is administered intramuscularly（肌肉注射）, usually in the arm.

译文：这种流感疫苗是一种灭活疫苗，其中含有灭活的病毒。它通常通常在上臂进行肌肉注射。

新冠灭活疫苗（anti-novel coronavirus inactivated vaccine）就属于该分类，是一种杀死病原微生物但仍保持其免疫原性的疫苗，具有生产工艺成熟（mature production process）、质量标准可控（controllable quality standards）、保护范围广（wide protection range）等优点。

（2）减毒活疫苗 live attenuated vaccine，如：腮腺炎疫苗

例句：Live attenuated vaccines are antigenic substances composed of a viable (living) pathogen, such as a virus or bacterium.

译文：减毒活疫苗是由活的病原体（如病毒或细菌）组成的抗原物质。

（3）亚单位疫苗 subunit vaccine，如：流感亚单位疫苗
