Visiting museums is no longer a rare event but a part of everyday life. According to the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of museums in the country has surpassed 5,700 and in 2020, some 540 million trips were made to museums despite the fallout from COVID-19. During the May Day holiday earlier this month, the difficulty of getting museum tickets became a trending topic on Chinese social media. Some internet users said that they would either set their alarm or stay up very late to snap up tickets when museums release new batches every day.

And being physically on site is no longer the only way to interact with museums and their relics. Buying creative products developed by the museums and going for a VR-based or AI-powered experience are giving visitors more options to choose from. Advanced technologies also make it possible for museums to present their collections in a more vivid way.
