small talk不是瞎聊

small talk（闲聊）是社交的一种形式，经常出现，比如说公司聚会认识新同事，大小会议的茶歇时间，和老外boss等电梯时……

通过small talk不仅可以打破见面时的冷场，也能让同事朋友更加了解你的性格与人品，从而愿意给你机会，与你合作。

但是这里要提醒各位的是闲聊≠瞎聊，如果你实在找不到好的话题(topics)，不妨选择一些安全的话题作为谈话的开端，比如：

Good morning! I went camping on Saturday, and of course it rained all day. Was your weekend any better?

早上好！我周六去野营，下了一整天的雨。你的周末好吗？

The day is almost over! Do you have any interesting plans for the evening?

今天就要结束了！晚上有什么有趣的计划吗？

How long have you been at your job?

你在现在的工作岗位上做了几年了?

I love your earrings! Where did you get them?

我喜欢你的耳环！你从哪儿买的？

或许，有小伙伴会说，这些话题都太简单了，要是真和老外small talk，还是远远不够的，聊着聊着就只能「yes」「okay」「you know」之类的了。那么，你需要从基础的口语对话开始练习，其实根本在于单词量的积累和简单的语法。

Be late 上班 迟到咋解释？

平时上班，每个人都或多或少的迟到过那么几次，可能是生病，交通堵车或者睡过头等等，那么这时你该如何和老外老板解释呢？

Sorry I'm late. Traffic was unusually bad today.

非常对不起，今天交通非常糟糕。

Sorry, I overslept thismorning.

抱歉，我天早上睡过头了。

I had a lot of recent changes at home, but it's all taken care of. I will not be late again.
