The Father of South America
Imagine being so famous that a country is named after you?
Well, about 200 years ago, there lived a man who was called the "father of South America".
His name was Simon Bolivar. He was born in South America in 1783.
Back then, Spain ruled South America. Most people in South America did not like this. Simon was one of those people. So he led small groups of men to fight against the Spanish armies.
People called him “EI Liberator". That means someone who makes people free.
He helped to free Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and... Bolivia!
That's right, the country of Bolivia is named after Simon Bolivar. I wonder how many other countries are named after people?
