伦敦政治经济学院（The London School of Economics and Political Science），简称LSE。创立于1895年，为伦敦大*联学**盟成员，与牛津大学、剑桥大学、伦敦大学学院、帝国理工学院并称“G5超级精英大学”，也是英国金三角名校和罗素大学集团成员。伦敦政治经济学院是一所专注于社会科学领域的世界顶尖学校，是经济金融领域的全球先驱。LSE在金融界和政商界享有极高口碑。现任美联储主席珍妮特·耶伦曾在LSE执教。至2016年为止，LSE的校友及教员之中包括了18名诺贝尔奖得奖者、34名政府或国家元首、31名英国下议院议员及42名上议院议员。在2013至2015年的QS世界大学排名中，LSE在社会科学及管理学领域的排名上已连续三年荣登世界第二，仅次于哈佛大学。
那个AS商务考了全国最高分的王馨童同学，还记得吗？前面有一篇介绍了她被多伦多大学录取的文章；时隔1个多月，她再次刷新记录，被伦敦政治经济学院录取。 而在此之前，她又被伦敦大学学院管理系录取。。。
说到管理专业，很多人会觉得很虚，空洞，华而不实， 没有实质性的内容。学生在做专业选择的时候也很纠结，她备选了会计与金融，经济，管理这三个专业，在这三个专业中不停摇摆，纠结。作为她的留学指导老师，我在分析学生的强项，性格，爱好之后，毅然决定让学生选择管理专业。 学生在高一的时候AS经济考砸，进行过补考，虽然有些大学不在意补考，但是对于世界最牛的商科学校伦敦政治经济学院来说，一点点瑕疵都会断送申请机会。所以放弃经济专业，同时也考虑到经济专业的入学 门槛高，需要3个A＊以上的成绩，还偏重看待数学和进阶数学成绩。会计与金融学生不是很感兴趣，尤其是会计学生自己性格里不适合。但是对于管理，学生有自己很多独到的见解，担任过班级干部有强烈的责任感，尤其是父母从事管理岗位对她的影响或者说基因吧，让她学习商务的时候充满力量。最后取得全国最高分。
在获得伦敦政治经济学院录取前1个月，伦敦大学学院的管理系也发给我学生要求，补充写一个essay，来证实自己在学习管理，理解管理方面的能力；一共有7个小essay。 其中一个题目是：Please suggest something that you think everyone on the MANAGEMENT SCIENCE programme (and everyone teaching on the programme) should read, and why? Hint: Avoid obvious things like The Economist or well-known business books. Think about the things that you have read that have really inspired you.

This book is important in many ways, but to be concise, first, it demonstrates how different personalities can work together toward a common goal, and second, for anyone interested in business and culture in China, this book is essential, because from it you will learn the spiritual and earthly philosophy of Chinese.

Once, my father told me that he allowed one of his interns to work flexibly, and not to abide by a 9am-5pm schedule. To me, as a student who has been trained for all my life to put each task into a fixed time slot, I was rather puzzled. However, from the A-level Business in high school, I learnt that productivity is not necessarily correlated to strict working hours. Allowing some flexibility to cater to individual employees’ need in fact motivates them to work harder and more effectively. Since then, my passion to focus on management as undergraduate study program grows.
So far I have taken such A-level courses as Economics, Business, Physics and Mathematics, from which I have gained a global picture of economics and management theories and practice, and some typical methodology to study business issues. I’m often commended by my teachers for a quick command of concepts, business cases, and effective application of ideas from different courses to study interesting cases in real life. For instance, I did a small research on Starbucks’ growth in China, and was amazed to learn that it’s going to open 2,500 new stores in 5 years in China. I then started reading a book on this company, entitled the Starbucks Experience. Brand loyalty is well managed, as I learned from it. From Seattle to Portland, and from the US to China, Starbucks’ management represents innovative thinking and bravery in breaking traditional coffee culture. In the past, people were used to buying a cup of cheap coffee at 50 cents at a convenience store, but now are more used to the Starbucks store where a quiet, free-wifi, and relaxing environment is provided. Drinking coffee is no more a need, but a habit. Also, in its globalization, Starbucks never fails to differentiate its markets. In the Asian market, for instance, its mocha coffee is uniquely tailored to local tastes. It’s hard to imagine Starbucks would grow so fast in China without innovative and strategic thinking from its management.
