The Race
Beetle was very fast and he loved showing off. One day, he challenged every other bug in the forest to a race.
Ants, grasshoppers, spiders and one caterpillar lined up at the starting line. They waited a long time for Beetle to line up for the race.
He could not stop bragging about how fast he was to all the other bugs that came to watch.
By the time the race finally started, the caterpillar had turned into a cocoon right on the starting line.
Soon, the race was over and Beetle had won. He laughed and laughed at the poor caterpillar stuck on the starting line.
He loved making fun of the caterpillar. So he said. “Hey, Caterpillar! Let's race again!"
"Ready. Set. Go!" Beetle was off like a bullet, heading straight for the finish line and laughing the whole way.
Suddenly, a moth with wings as white as snow broke out of the cocoon. It flew past Beetle and won the race!
