江苏大剧院总面积27万平方米，相当于38个足球场，拥有歌剧厅、音乐厅、戏剧厅、综艺厅等四个大厅。歌剧厅一次可容纳近2200名观众，拥有6块专业芭蕾升降舞台和国内最大、最复杂的机械系统。音乐厅以器乐表演为主，内设池座一层和楼座二层，可容纳近1500人，镇厅之宝奥地利Rieger管风琴就坐落其中。再来移步戏剧厅，这是最具民族特点的剧场，主要以演出传统戏曲、话剧为主。剧院中18米的古典式升降旋转台可供演员完成飞天动作，是国内最大的同类转台。而最大的综艺厅一次可容纳2700余名观众，可以满足各种综艺节目和大型演出的需要。

音乐厅首演刚刚落下帷幕，观众仍意犹未尽，江苏大剧院戏剧厅又迎来首秀。8月11日19时30分，大剧院首部原创京剧现代戏《青衣》华美开篇。梅派青衣、梅花奖得主李亦洁携多位大咖“唱、念、做、打”，博得了全场近1000名观众热烈的掌声。《青衣》此前在全国各地已演出11场，在台湾地区被观众热评为近20年来最好的京剧现代戏。《人民日报》则将其评为2016年度全国5部推荐戏剧之一。此番回家，《青衣》仍旧一票难求，优美的唱腔、婉转的旋律、极简的舞美、直击内心的故事，让它再度掀起一股“京剧热”。
