2024 LYBS university offers season has already started. We warmly congratulate the English Division IB DP programme G12 student Fang who received an interview invitation from the University of Cambridge, Ren who received an offer from the University of Manchester, Cai who received an offer from the top three universities in the Netherlands, the University of Amsterdam, the University of Groningen and the University of Utrecht, as well as Shi who received an offer from Lausanne School of Hotel Management in Switzerland. More offers from the top schools in the world are expected in the near future, so please keep staying connected with us!

Recent events have underscored the importance of equipping our students with transferable skills alongside a growth-oriented mindset, particularly in an era marked by complexity and uncertainty. As educators, it is our ethical duty to provide students with comprehensive learning opportunities that nurture qualities such as curiosity, effective communication, openness to new ideas, critical thinking, empathy, and self-reflection to become knowledgeable inquirers, principled communicators, open-minded risk-takers, balanced thinkers, caring, and reflective individuals that respect and appreciate themselves and especially others.

Adaptability to change is paramount in these unpredictable times, and at LYBS we firmly believe that it is our responsibility as educators to exemplify these principles through our actions and inspire our students. Our conviction in this regard is resolute, and we are fully committed to facilitating students' emancipation, empowering them to become catalysts for transformative societal progress and development. As part of this journey towards self-realisation and success our students have the opportunity to be exposed to a multitude of stimuli inside and outside the classroom and the school, challenge themselves by setting ambitious goals to test their limits and learn their boundaries, as well as at the same benefit from personalized and fit-for-purpose support by a team of highly experienced professionals along the way including but not limited to individualized preparation and guidance as part of the university applications and interviews process as in the example of Fang that is currently getting prepared to be interviewed by a University of Cambridge panel to eventually study Philosophy.

燎原双语为学生提供校内外活动、竞赛、夏令营、公益项目、奖学金、升学指导、推荐信以及面试指导等支持(此次方同学的推荐信由国际课程班James Tan老师撰写),以帮助同学们满足大学申请的要求和标准,提升背景、完善文书,从而实现进入理想大学的目标。

DP协调员寄语

Shine是个极具个性的学生。他在我的文学和认识论课上,给我留下了深刻的印象。他自主学习能力极强,知识储备丰富,能在课上自信地发表自己的观点,所以他能不断“逼迫”老师好好备课从而跟上他的进度,做到教学相长。他还有另外一个独特的能力,能有意识地进行跨学科学习,他能将文学、音乐、电影与哲学做深层次的连结,得出一些具有洞察力、创造力与表现力的结论。他自学钢琴以及超越年龄对哲学方面的热爱都给老师和同学们留下了深刻的印象。得知Shine拿到剑桥面试的消息,我从心底里替他感到高兴。希望他能利用剩下的时间好好准备面试,实现他的阶段性梦想。
