1955年，纽约现代艺术博物馆，举办摄影史上具有里程碑意义的展览「人类大家庭」，展出503张来自68个国家地区，共计273名摄影师的作品。

这些摄影定格的画面，展现了生命的丰富和壮丽，歌颂了人类的智慧和博爱；尊严和救赎，也警醒了自身无法超越的卑微和贪婪；战争和仇视。

摄影作为世界性的语言符号，用定格的影像，记录下人与人、人与环境间千丝万缕的关系，也让我们看到世界各个角落，不同语言和文化背景下，生活的丰富与生命的美好。

如今席卷全球的疫情，让我们的生活面临前所未有的考验。《纽约时报》最近派出数十名摄影师，拍摄下这些曾经熙熙攘攘、如今空空荡荡的公共空间，是记录，也是感叹。

这些随着疫情严重，逐渐变得空荡的空虚之境，构成了与日常混乱状态相对立的，另一种孤独的存在，唤醒了一种废墟式的浪漫。

这些空旷的公共空间

是警醒、也更是召唤

「公共场所」的起源，最早可追溯到古希腊的集市。作为中心广场的开放空间，是城市的灵魂所在。只有当人们聚在一起，就共同关心的事彼此交流时，才成为真正的公共空间。「公共空间」作为社会沟通的主要载体，还有一个特殊的功能，即共有和分享。它赋予了我们生活以分享的、共命运的气氛，具有特殊的情感意义。从这一特殊的精神性意义上而言正是因为有这些公共空间的存在我们彼此沟通、相互交流和理解共同赋予这个城市以活力和价值芬兰建筑大师阿尔瓦•阿尔托曾说 ：「建筑这个东西，只有当我们以人为中心时才有意义」。对于公共空间而言同样如此：「只有当人处于核心地位时，公共空间才真正具有价值」。

在病毒肆虐的日子，这些往日熙熙攘攘的公共空间：东京的机场，新泽西的街道。建筑依旧，唯一缺少的，就是其中的人：虚空如病毒一样，令我们粹不及防。

虽然明知目前的空虚是为对抗疫情，公共卫生的必要条件但这些如电影中末世启示录般的景象依然令我们倍感唏嘘
