四、如何描述人物
◆介绍人物特点
1. optimistic 乐观的；energetic 有活力的
She was quite optimistic and energetic. She brought me a lot of happiness and courage. I learned from her something precious – a belief in life.
2. humorous 幽默的；be confident in 对……有信心
She was humorous and playful. She was so confident in the way she dressed that she called herself a “fashion queen” and made jokes about how little I cared about my appearance.
3. be a fan of… 是……迷；don’t end there 不止于此
He is a fan of comics. You can see cartoons he has drawn in the margins (页边的空白) of his textbooks. But his interest in drawing doesn’t end there. He also loves creating labyrinths (迷宫) with his pen.
4. treat people with… 用……对待别人
Kerstin always treats people with respect and love.
5. be determined to… 下定决心做某事；be up to… 一心一意做某事
She was determined to prove she was up to her great task.
6. share an attitude to life 对生活有着相同的态度；live one’s dream 实现梦想
These two girls share an attitude to life: The first thing is to live your dream and everything else is a lesser (次要的) matter.
7. be born to be 有天赋；take to sth 开始从事某事
Hamilton was born to be a surfer. She took to the waves early in Hawaii.

1. set a record 创纪录；make contributions to… 做出贡献
She set a new world record of swimming and made great contributions to our country.
2. make a return to… 回归……；excel at sth 擅长某事；an inspiration for sb 启发人心
Most people would have given up after what happened to her, but not only did she make an amazing return to surfing, she excelled at it, and has turned her life into an inspiration for people all around the world.
3. rise to fame 成名
Show, who was born to an Master of Ceremonies father and a singer mother, rose to fame quickly.
4. capture the attention 吸引注意力
It’s hard to imagine someone that will capture the attention and entertain the fans as well as O’Neal did.

Jane and I are good friends, though we look different on the outside. I am as slim as a rake(耙子) while she is big and strong.
