宣德炉，是由明宣宗朱瞻基在大明宣德三年参与设计监造的铜香炉，简称“宣炉”。宣德炉它是中国历史上第一次运用风磨铜铸成的铜器。
为了制作出精品的铜炉，在朱瞻基的亲自督促下，整个制作过程，包括炼铜、造型必须自《宣和博古图》《考古图》等典籍及内府密藏的数百件宋元名窑中，精选出符合适用对象、款制大雅的形制，将之绘成图样，再呈给其亲览，并说明图款的来源和典故的出处，经过筛选确定后，再铸成实物样品让其过目，满意后方准开铸。

这是一件仿生题材，一竹子为主要表现纹饰，其耳为竹节，弯曲浮雕于炉身之上，炉身竹叶与竹节完美衔接，仿佛炉中长出了竹子一般，十分耐赏。
这件宣德炉是典型的蟹青皮色，黄中带青，青中有黄，形似蟹壳的青色，故而名蟹青皮色。
底部对称分布三足，三足之间阳刻六字款：宣德年制，德字少一横，是当时的典型特征，这件宣德炉在自然光线下，底光柔和，自然光呈现晕散反射，无任何贼光，开门到代，十分罕见。

这件如意观音立像整体满工艺，正面纹饰满身，十分精美，观音周身如意卷云纹，与手中如意相呼应，头部左右缠枝草蔓纹，背后佛光围绕，右上到下整体光泽十分温润，为绸缎包浆，触感光滑，身穿汉服，袖口极大，下摆到膝盖以下，整体褶皱纹饰表现的十分到位，显得十分贴身，达到了曹衣出水的境界，十分耐赏。

大乘佛教极为强调悲心，视悲心为佛法的根本。《佛说法集经》中观世音菩萨说：“菩萨若行大悲，一切诸佛法如在掌中。”因为大乘的发菩提心，广度众生，就是“菩提所缘，缘苦众生”的悲心发动。悲心人皆有之，而没有菩萨的广大，但能通过不断修学发挥悲心，成为无穷的深广。没有悲心所修的功德是人天果报或小乘功德。若具有悲心，一切修行都是成就果德的因缘。所以经中总是说“大悲为上首”。 一切清净功德都以大悲为领导。扩大同情而成为菩萨的平等悲心，凡夫似乎不易做到。若能以缘起正观，观察人与人间的关系，则不难发现到自身与众生的关切，而能体察一切众生的苦痛。这是大乘佛教极为重要的价值观，也是诸大宗派的共识。
