“I want to be a good student too. I don’t want to run around or disturb other children. But right now, I can’t. I will work hard at this.”

十几年前，一个正读小学二年级的意大利小朋友，请老师帮忙改一篇竞选班干部的稿子。现任上海浦东德英乐周浦幼儿园（筹）中方园长的张宏伟，回忆起当年的那位小朋友，仍然感慨万千：“因为是个外国小朋友，所以写得非常非常简单。但这个内心纯净又灿烂的小朋友写出来的这篇简单的稿子，直接击中了我的心。”当时，张园长在内心问了自己三个问题：教育的前提是什么？教育的根本是什么？教育的方法又是什么？

Ten years ago, an Italian child in second grade asked his teacher to help him write an essay for a competition. Zhang Hong Wei, the current Principal of DTD Kindergarten,Zhoupu, recalls this memory of the Italian child with many emotions: “Because he was a foreign child, the draft was written simply. These few sentences were filled with such genuine innocence, that it hit me right in the heart.” At that point, Principal Zhang found herself pondering three questions:What is the premise of education? What are the fundamentals of education? What is the method of education?

如今，张园长和上海浦东德英乐周浦幼儿园（筹）一群才华横溢的中外教老师，正用实际行动回答这三个问题。“教育的前提，是要有足够的爱和耐心来倾听小朋友内心的声音；教育的根本，是对孩子的理解和接纳；教育的方法，则是以对孩子的爱和尊重为基础，作为孩子的支持者，同时用自己的专业知识成为孩子的引导者。”张园长说。

Now Principal Zhang and her team of talented Chinese and Foreign teachers in DTD Kindergarten，Zhoupu are answering these questions in a practical way. “The premise is to use love and patience to listen to the inner voice of each child. The fundamentals are to understand and accept each child for who he or she is. The method is for educators to use their professional knowledge to support and bring out the leader embedded in each child.”

如何以爱和尊重为基础，倾听小朋友内心的声音，有着18年学前教育经验、10余年国际双语幼儿园课程和管理经验的张园长一直在探索。“有个毕业的孩子让我印象非常深刻，他是个ADHD（注意缺陷多动障碍）幼儿。在集体教学中，他和大家一起活动非常困难，但是他在英文学习方面特别有天分，我们在集体里一直强调他的优点，而他呢，也很乐意给同伴讲英文故事。”

Using love and respect of children’s inner voices as a basis and 18 years of educational experience (with 10 years of experience in curriculum and management in international and bilingual kindergartens), Principal Zhang is always exploring and reflecting. “One of the graduating children truly impressed me. He has ADHD and struggled to concentrate in group settings. He was gifted in his English abilities, so we always emphasized that within the group. He particularly enjoyed telling English stories to his friends.”

毕业前夕，孩子们经常用画画来表达自己的情感。出乎张园长意料的是，这个小朋友画的不是课堂里学到的知识，而是一面园旗，“这让我非常感动。我们用爱和耐心来理解孩子、接纳孩子，孩子回馈给我们的也是满满的爱，这才是教育的意义。”

Before graduating, the children often drew pictures to show their emotions about moving on. To Principal Zhang’s surprise, this child did not only draw pictures of what he had learned, but a banner. “I was incredibly moved, we use love and patience to understand and accept our children. In return they show us heaps of love. That is the meaning of education.”

The Five Goals of Kindergarten Education

“我们的整个课程体系是有连贯性的，其中幼儿园教育是基础。”张园长认为，幼儿园的教育目标包括以下五个方面：通过健康的饮食、合理的运动，培养孩子们健康的体魄；培养孩子们良好的礼仪风范；通过美的环境对孩子的熏陶以及调动孩子们参与创作，来提升孩子们敏锐的艺术感受能力和表达能力；教会孩子们独立思考的能力和自主学习的品质；培育孩子们宽和接纳的国际人情怀。张园长表示：“社会和世界是由多元文化组成的，我们希望从德英乐走出来的孩子，要对自己的文化有自信，同时对其他的文化报以尊重。”

“The entire education system is linked, and kindergarten education serves as the foundation for further learning.” Principal Zhang believes that the five goals of kindergarten education should be 1)to cultivate a healthy diet, exercise routine, and self-image 2) to learn proper manners and etiquette 3) To utilize an aesthetically appealing environment to stir artistic desires and participation of children, to increase their artistic sensibilities and expressive abilities 4) To teach independent thinking and learning skills 5)to cultivate a global citizen mindset. Principal Zhang said “The world is a multicultural place, we hope that the children who leave Dare to Dream kindergartens are confident in their own culture and respect other cultures equally.”

来自美国的Amber拥有Shorter University的早期儿童教育学士学位和Western Governors University的ESOL（English for Speakers of Other Languages）硕士学位。Amber愿意帮助孩子们实现他们的目标，激励他们成为终身学习者。

Amber Hicks is from the United States and holds a Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Shorter University. She also holds a Masters of Arts in English to Speakers of Other Languages from Western Governors University. Amber believes in helping children achieve their goals and encourages them to become life-long learners.

Ravae Duhaney

来自美国的Ravae Duhaney毕业于马里兰大学巴尔的摩分校，主修舞蹈和基础教育。多年在美国、危地马拉、中国上海从事幼儿教育工作的Ravae Duhaney热爱教育公平、热衷于与家庭互动。

Ravae Duhaney is from the United States and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in Baltimore County. She worked in kindergartens in the United States and Guatemala before coming to Shanghai. Ravae is passionate about social justice and interacting with families to learn more about their children.

Katrina Ng

来自美国的Katrina Ng拥有语言学和西班牙语文学学士学位及研究生教育证书，曾在洪都拉斯、中国香港、中国上海等国际幼儿园任教。Katrina追求努力工作和自由玩耍的平衡。

Katrina Ng is from the United States and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Spanish. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate of Education. She worked in kindergartens in Honduras and Hong Kong prior to coming to Shanghai. In the classroom, Katrina believes in the balance between hard work and free play.

童保艳 Emily Tong

毕业于华东师范大学学前教育专业，在幼教岗位上工作11年。用心付出，让每个孩子健康快乐自信阳光地成长，对世界充满好奇并学会探索是她不懈追求的目标。

Miss Tong graduated from East China Normal University and has worked in kindergartens for eleven years. She dedicates herself to helping each child grow healthily, happily, and confidently. She is ever-curious and enthusiastic.

Desiree Watson-Isom

Desiree来自美国，拥有幼儿教育学士学位和数学教育硕士学位。Desiree认为，教学是一种鼓舞人心的方式，帮助孩子们释放他们真正的潜力和好奇心。

Desiree Watson-Isom is from the United States and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Shorter University. She also holds a Masters of Arts in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University. Desiree believes that education is a way to inspire children and help them open their hearts to their true potential and curiosities.

刘雅 Liu Ya

毕业于华东师范大学并获法学学士学位的刘雅，有7年双语幼儿园教学经验。刘老师热爱动物与自然，喜欢浮潜、艺术和文学，她希望能用一颗童心带着爱走进孩子的世界。

Miss Liu graduated from East China Normal University and has seven years of experience working in bilingual kindergartens. Miss Liu is a passionate animal and nature lover. She enjoys diving, art, and literature. She always has a loving heart to help children navigate the world around them.

卫芳芳 Wei Fang Fang

从事幼教工作十几年，毕业于华东师范大学学前教育专业。她希望用爱心搭建与孩子理解沟通的桥梁，用耐心和细心为孩子营造健康成长的环境，用真心诚心换取家长的放心。

Miss Wei is a graduate of East China Normal University. She has more than a decade of kindergarten teaching experience. Miss Wei enjoys drawing, music, handcrafts, and dancing. With a strong sense of logic and language abilities, she effectively builds communication with children while patiently guiding them in their development.
