Bridges Gender Gap in STEM
2017年世界经济论坛全球性别差距报告指出，全球行业性别差距将需要100年才能得以消除。在许多企业不断强调公司多元文化和包容性的同时，巨大的性别差距依然存在于STEM（科学、技术、工程和数学）行业。
According to the 2017 World Economic Global Gender Gap Report, it will take 100 years to close the global gender gap. While many corporations are embracing Diversity and Inclusion in their corporate policies, the gender gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) industries contributes immensely to the global statistics.
Ladies Who Tech（LWT）是于2016年由STEM行业的女性创立的社群平台。她们相信，通过启发更多女性探索她们在STEM职业中的潜力能挑战现状，同时提高人们对于STEM行业缺乏女性这一现状的认知，从而帮助企业提高多元化水平。
Ladies Who Tech (LWT) is a community platform started in 2016 by women working in the STEM industries. They believe in challenging the status quo by inspiring more women to discover their potential within STEM, while raising awareness of the lack of women in the STEM industries, ultimately helping corporations to have more diversity.
2017年，LWT已经针对STEM行业内各领域的女性成功举办多场活动，涵盖高科技时尚、现代汽车、电商、人工智能以及数字医疗。每次活动都与企业联合举办，比如拜耳、普华永道、通用汽车、易趣及迪士尼。受邀演讲嘉宾多为来自多元背景的女性创业者、专家和企业领导人。通过分享她们在STEM行业中的历程、她们的动力以及对于STEM方面的见解，鼓励了许多学生和年轻的职业女性。这些活动的主旨不仅在于向经验丰富的专家学习，也给STEM行业的女性提供了一个互动社交、获取机会和提高自我认知的平台。
Throughout 2017, LWT has successfully held monthly events for women (and men) engaging in various spheres within STEM industries, from high-tech fashion to automotive, e-commerce, AI and digital healthcare. Each event has been hosted in partnership with a corporation such as Bayer, PwC, General Motors, eBay, as well as entertainment giant, The Walt Disney Company. Guest speakers are women ranging from entrepreneurs, to professionals, and corporate leaders all from diverse backgrounds. By sharing their stories of their journey in STEM, their motivation, and their insights on STEM topics, they have inspired many female students and young professionals. These events have been a catalyst to not only learn from seasoned professionals, but also to network, learn of new opportunities, and build awareness in STEM industries.
“通过Ladies Who Tech，我们希望可以激励更多女性在职业生涯中选择STEM行业。同时也鼓励更多企业雇用STEM专业领域的女性。”Ladies Who Tech的联合创始人Charlene Liu在每次活动上都会提出这一观点。
“Through Ladies Who Tech, we want to inspire more women to take up STEM in their careers. We want to encourage more companies to hire women in STEM,” Charlene Liu, Co-Founder, explains at every event.
今年6月2日，首届Ladies Who Tech年度大会将在上海举行。此次大会将分为两个环节。白天的活动在上海新天地安达仕酒店举办，内容包括主题演讲、专题研讨会、专题分会以及招聘会。晚上在普华永道创新中心将举办互动酒会，现场同时设有女性主导的创业企业项目展示以及科技互动体验区。
This coming June 2, the inaugural Ladies Who Tech Convention will be hosted in Shanghai. It will be a full day event divided into two sessions. The daytime session which include keynote speeches, workshops, breakout sessions, and a job fair will be held at Andaz Xintiandi, Shanghai. In the evening, a cocktail networking session will be hosted at PwC Innovation Centre, featuring women-led start-ups and an interactive tech corner.
此次年度大会旨在让STEM行业的学生、专业人士和公司一起参与对话，启发和培养女性在STEM领域里进一步的专业性发展。人工智能、区块链和大数据公司将展示他们尖端的高科技产品。参与者将有机会近距离接触顶尖的科技和技术专家的分享。来自拜耳集团、普华永道、通用汽车、宜家等相关领域的专家将发表演讲，由女性主导的创业公司将进行项目展示。 同时，还会有STEM领域内特定版块的一系列专题研讨会和工作坊。大会设有招聘会，求职者可以向各个公司咨询工作机会。主办方预计今年将会有超过1000名参与者参加年度大会。 LWT欢迎大家来参加年度大会，携手提升女性在STEM行业的影响力。
The Convention aims to bring students, professionals, and companies from STEM together to engage in dialogue, while fostering new relationships, and further professional development amongst women and their male allies. Companies in AI, Blockchain, and big data will present their cutting-edge high-tech products. Participants will have first-hand experience and exposure to leading technology and technology experts. Leaders from Bayer, IKEA, General Motors, PwC and more will give speeches and women-led startups will showcase their products. There will be a variety of workshops and mini-training sessions for specific sectors within the STEM field. There will also be a job fair where job seekers can inquire about opportunities in various companies. Organizers anticipate 1000+ participants this year. The Convention welcomes both women and men to join and work together to raise awareness of women in STEM.

“Our slogan – ‘break the stereotype, be a role model’, is to remind society that STEM opportunities deemed as traditional men-dominated jobs can also be filled by women.” said Jill Tang, Co-Founder.
