此碗虽有铁足现象，却无紫口特征，所以定义为冰裂纹天青釉碗，底部有一明显的阴裂纹路，而在碗底看不见其纹，这种裂并非窑裂，和人为造成，裂痕断口并非是笔直一条线过去，而是不规则的折裂有如树枝一般，裂口处有轻微外翻的现象，是典型的阴裂现象，是长时间的内应力加上长时间的阴干导致，瓷器历经几百年会变轻，就是阴干所致，由此现象可断定此孔雀绿釉瓷枕为开门真品，
可以看到外圈有大小不一的凹痕，而内圈却极其光滑，这是由于瓷器在密封无氧的环境下变软所致，理论上所有的物体都为液体，只不过硬度不一样罢了，这件瓷器正是在变软的情况下，还没有充分的阴干，就被强行取出了，导致表面有大小不一的凹痕，这是后天操作不当所致。
天青釉在宋代的名窑中就开始出现，嗣后各代都有仿制，新中国成立以来，这一优美的传统色釉大放异彩，除装饰陈设瓷以外，还广泛地用它装饰茶具，餐具，酒具，糖缸等日用瓷，受到广大工农兵的一致称赞。天青釉是以钴为着色，以釉果，长石作釉料，并以钙，镁质原料作溶剂，釉料应球磨至细。生坯施釉,一般多采用喷釉或浸釉与喷釉相结各的施釉方法,在1280～1300℃窑温下烧成,气氛以还原焰为主。
