You really think 2017 cavs > 2016 cavs? Why? Cause they had an easier time in the east playoffs? 2016 cavs had a better JR, RJ, Frye, and TT. ‘16 team won 57 games compare to 51 in ‘17. Delly was way better backup than dwill. You could say Love was better in ‘17 which is true on average, but the games he was bad in really killed them(G3 and G5 specifically).

I similarly thought that the 2017 Cavs were better than the 2016 Cavs, though now that I’m mulling it over more I’m rethinking that.
The argument for the 2017 Cavs is that in the postseason, they were one of the best offensive teams of all time. That is the best a Lebron run offense has ever looked.

As entertaining as it would be to compare a Kobe-era Lakers squad to today’s Lakers, ’13-’14 was the year Kobe sat out most of the season due to the achilles injury. The team went 27-55 and was so short-manned at one point that Robert Sacre managed to stay in a game after fouling out.

If we pushed it back to 6 years then the 2012 Celtics vs 2018-19 Celtics would be pretty interesting. The final year where the Big 3 was fully assembled, but even then I think I would take the ’18-19 Celtics in 6 or 7 game series. I don’t think we would have had the wing depth to cover Hayward, Tatum, and Brown simultaneously and with KG pushing 36 we could probably get away with just Horford and Baynes guarding him.
