美国的住院医期间是出了名的累，那他们在住院医期间到底做了什么？

Iremember when we were pre-med students, we looked up to those who were alreadyin med school and thought that their life was smooth sailing. Then once weproudly got into med school, we became “firsties” and looked up admirablyto the fifth semester honor students as they walked across the stageduring white coat ceremony, having their words of wisdom read out. Then once wefinally reached where they were and became clinical students, we realized wewere at the bottom of the pecking order again, and looked up to theresidents we worked with and couldn’t wait to get to where they were. And nowthat we have made it to residency, we are back at the bottom of the rung again.

没有错，美国住院医大多数时间，也是在做一些琐事，比如告诉实习医生要记笔记、推病人等，与中国的住院医的日常工作差不多。但是经过美国住院医培训成为医生，美国医生能够保证同样标准的临床操作，并表现出实力相当的临床能力，这个是值得中国规培所深思的。
· 美国住院医师培训阶段补充：
美国，住院医师的培养具有较广泛的基础而不提倡过早专科化，几乎所有医学毕业生都要接受至少三年的住院医师培训（少数项目2年），某些专业长达 8 年。
第一年为实习医师，完成第一年的教育后参加执照考试。拿到州政府的医师执照并可开始行医（其实就是有行医资格而已，有一些处方权），其后可根据本人意愿与专业需要继续进行住院医师培训。
美国住院医师的工作时间惊人：原来，美国外科住院医每周通常工作 110 小时，相当于 1 周工作 7 天，每天工作 15 小时，不过现在已经降低工作强度了。
美国有限定住院医师每周工作时间不超过 80 小时，每次连续工作的时间不超过 12 小时，每个班之间至少间隔 8 小时，每周至少有 1 次 24 小时连续休息的时间，大多数医院都会遵守。
住院医师实际上仍是一名学生，除了完成临床工作外，他们还有一套专业培训计划要完成。
