大家平时听过的关于英语当中名词的分类就有抽象名词，具体名词，动名词等等；平行相关的题目中，经常会涉及到名词的平行，所以非常有必要跟着勇哥把这些名词分类顺一顺。
1、具体名词（concrete nouns）
指的具体的人，事情，地点，时间等，比如：water, land, lawyer, month等
2、动作名词 （Action nouns）
指的是动词转变过来的名词，如：eruption（erupt），pollution（pollute）， withdrawal （withdraw）， development （develop）等
3、简单动名词 （simple gerund）
其实就是doing sth，动词+宾语的结构，如reading books, riding bikes, having breakfast等
4、复杂动名词（comples gerund）
这种doing后面没有宾语，通常形式是 doing of, N’s doing等，如the rising of sea levels, the tracking of criminals, the wine tasting等
敲黑板，划重点咯！
通常简单动名词和复杂动名词不能平行并列（勇哥喜欢简单记忆，doing sth 和 doing of 通常不可以平行）
例如： I enjoy drinking the water and the wine tasting.
这句话就错了，drinking the water 是简单动名词，the wine tasting是复杂动名词。修改后： I enjoy drinking the water and tasting the wine.
通常动作名词只能和复杂名词平行 （勇哥还是偷懒，简单记成N不要和doing sth平行，可以和doing of或者’s doing平行）
例如： The rebels demanded the withdrawal of governments of forces from disputed regions, significant reductions in overall troop levels, raising the rebel flag on holidays, and a general pardon.
这里有四个名词平行，其中withdrawal, reductions和pardon都是动作名词，只有raising the rebel flag是doing sth也就是所谓的简单动名词，所以是错误的。修改后： The rebels demanded the withdrawal of governments of forces from disputed regions, significant reductions in overall troop levels, the raising of the rebel flag on holidays, and a general pardon.
最后，如果有动作名词，尽量避免用复杂动名词。
例如，避免用withdrawing of government forces, 选用withdrawal of government forces，避免用releasing of prisoners，选用release of prisoners.
简而言之，名词可以分成三大类：具体名词；动作名词和复杂动名词；简单动名词，平行的时候不要把不同类型的名词混在一起就好了。
一起看道真题：
Possible long-term consequences of the “greenhouse effect,” the gradual warming of the Earth’s climate, may include melting the polar ice caps and a rising sea level.
A.may include melting the polar ice caps and a rising sea level
B.may include the melting of polar ice caps and the rising sea level
C.may include polar ice caps that are melting and sea levels that are rising
D.include melting the polar ice caps and sea levels that are rising
E.include melting of the polar ice caps and a rise in sea level
按照刚才的讲解，A和D选项可以秒排，doing sth和N平行了；另外A和B选项的may和句首的possible重复了；最后，从语义上来看，consequences不可能包括ice caps和sea levels，语义不对，温室效应的后果包括的应该是melting和 a rise，所以答案选E。
