"Socks," said Rosa.
"This is my doll's pram. You can come for a ride in it. You will like my pram."
“Sit down, Socks!" said Rosa.
"Please sit down. Stay in the pram!"
"Meow! Meow! Meow! "
"Come back, Socks!" said Rosa.
"Get into the pram! We are going for a walk."
"Meow! Meow! Meow! "
Socks ran away.
"Mum," cried Rosa.
"Please help me look for Socks. He will not stay in my doll's pram!"
" I will help you," said Mum.
"Look, Mum!" said Rosa.
"Socks is up in the tree."
" I will get a ladder," said Mum.
Mum went into the garage to get a ladder.
"Come here, Socks," said Rosa.
Socks came down the tree and he ran into the house.
Rosa went inside, too.
"Oh, Socks!" said Rosa.
"You love to sleep on my bed."

doll's pram可以通过插图猜到是玩具婴儿车，ladder虽没有画出来，不过看样子妈妈也够不着树上的Socks，所以她是要去garage车库或杂物间拿一个可以帮她够到小猫的东西出来，你猜到这个ladder是什么了么？如果只是让小猫自己爬下来的话，可以是根长竹竿，如果妈妈要爬上去抱小猫下来的话，那就有可能是梯子，总之这个ladder一定是个长长的、高高的、能够支在地上，靠在树上的东西。如果能够想到这里，那么即使你还不能能断定ladder具体是指什么东西，但你也已经理解了文章的意思，基本具备了一定的阅读理解能力。其实Comprehension阅读理解就是通过上下文猜测生词的意思，不一定是非常准确的单词含义，只要是不影响理解全文就可以，读懂作者表达的字面含义及言外之意，甚至预测后文的情节发展。
