在留学申请中，除了学校、专业、GPA、语言成绩等硬性条件外，PS（Personal Statement）可以说是重中之重。它不仅是学校在主观上进一步了解你的第一道窗口，也是你如何从众多申请者中脱颖而出的致胜法宝。

一份好的文书，不仅能让面试官觉得你是一个 逻辑思维严谨 ，更是一个对自己有 深刻认识和思考 的人，这种文书也会一定程度上，亦或是弥补你其他硬性条件的不足，亦或是让你的申请材料锦上添花~

Vol.2 / Career Plan篇

不管是在文书写作还是实习工作面试的时候，个人的职业发展规划都是无法避免的问题，在文书写作中，职业发展规划 Career Plan 也是 Statement of Purpose 中很重要的一部分，因为这部分内容需要清晰明确的表明你自己的职业规划是什么，这也是招生官更能了解你的重要窗口～

在Career Plan这部分，根据标准，有以下几档划分，请稍微停顿一下，思考下如果现在就需要你描述一下自己的职业规划，你的回答是什么？

• A档： 职业发展规划Career Plan分为 短期规划 和 长期规划 ，一个优秀的Career Plan应该是清晰、具体且极具说服力的。
• B档： 这个档位的职业发展规划是目标清晰的，但是具体程度或者说服力程度还有待提高。
• C档： 完全没有一个清晰、明确的职业发展规划，更谈不上有说服力了。

案例篇：具体的职业发展规划如何写

短期规划

1. 回到中国，在国际学校从事K12相关的教学；

2. 考口腔医生职业资格证成为执业口腔医生，并在三甲医院工作；

3. 毕业后进入互联网大厂从事数据分析的职业。

长期规划

1. 摸索适合中国学生语言学习规律的教学方法，开设培训K12英语教学教师的机构；

2. 成为合伙人开办属于自己的口腔医疗诊所；

3. 积累一定工作经验和人脉后，进入数据分析领域，开创自己的公司，主要为中国各种初创企业提供数字化的解决方案。

影响力

1. 规范教培市场，尽一己之力在一定范围内提升中国XX领域和年龄段师资教学水平；

2.关注少儿口腔健康问题，针对少儿口腔问题，提出行业解决方案；

3. 助力中国中小型企业数字化转型，提升行业整体效率。

如何实现职业目标

结合why school来写，例如：专业的课程如何帮助积累职业目标的必须技能，alumni support和career service提供的实习/就业机会，项目地理位置优势可能带来的实习经验等方面～

注意事项

1. 清晰具体（越具体越真实，一个很详细的Career Plan会更有说服力，也会字里行也透露出你是对自己的职业发展规划很清晰的人）

2. 有说服力，和开头及文章正文内容相呼应

3. 避免假大空以及冗杂的废话

那么什么才叫职业目标清晰、具体且有说服力呢？我们直接来看一些例子。

Example 1

Public Policy

With a desire to act as a change agent in the healthcare system, I plan to seek a policy-research position at a department within a governmental agency (i.e., Department of Healthcare Reform within the National Health Commission of China) or within a multilateral organization such as World Health Organization upon completion of a comprehensive master program, so that I can contribute substantively to my country’s healthcare reform efforts.

In the long, However, I cannot enter this field as a professional with only my dedication and internship experiences. Instead, I require XXX’s well designed and interdisciplinary master program, which perfectly matches my educational interests. Courses such as Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development can help me develop hands-on social venture business plan tools, enhance my critical thinking skills via case analysis and teamwork skills, and courses like - AI and Data:

The Next Revolution in Healthcare can improve my understanding on how digital concepts are being applied to healthcare and how they will impact the life of healthcare providers, payers, and patients alike. Besides, the Public Innovation Laboratory provides different case studies and capstone projects for me to develop my practical expertise, which I would benefit so much for future career.

- 案例解读 -

段首即点明个人的职业倾向和目标 ，即在政府部门或者多边组织从事政策研究相关的工作，也符合Public Policy专业通常的就业导向。（一个小建议是同学们在写自己Career Plan的时候其实可以先调查意向Program的Career Placement等网页的信息。看看该项目主要的就业去向是什么，然后再与个人的career goal相结合。）

后半段同样是Why Program和Career Plan的结合 。点明项目具体某些课程是自己非常感兴趣或者觉得很有帮助的。给招生官提供申请者和项目具体的“匹配点”，让招生官切实地明白项目能够助力申请者的未来规划。

Example 2

Computer Science

In retrospection of my experience, I have learned that to become successful in life, a person must pursue his avid aspirations with hard work, persistence, and determination to accomplish, and it with these hallmark qualities that I have chased my dreams.

I strive with a steadfast determination to become a computer scientist adept in inventing and designing new technologies and finding new uses for existing technology to optimize various career services in diverse industries.

My interests are focused on computer security. As technology and computing systems continue to develop at exponential rates, the need for specialists in cyber-security is only likely to grow; such specialists are almost like virtual detectives, pitching their resources against the formidable expertise of those who seek to breach security protections, and policing the cyber world.

It is in attaining a career as a computer scientist that I will be able to contribute to my career goal and to developing sophisticated programs that enhance positive changes.

这个例子则是比较“纯粹”地只写Career Plan相关信息的文段。 段首先表达出个人具有的优秀品质，接着引出个人的目标是成为一个计算机科学家，接下来点明主攻方向是计算机安全，后面则是阐述个人对于计算机安全领域的思考和看法，段末再次点明和强调这是个人的职业目标。

整体来说这段写作属于平铺直叙讲述个人职业目标的一个段落，适用于单独回答Career Plan这个问题的小文书。若是集成到SOP中去，则还需要和Why School / Why Program等结合。

Example 3

Financial Math

With my practical experience in the financial market, I ascertained that China will become a goldmine of quantitative traders in the next decade. Because, unlike the US, China’s stock market is full of inefficiencies and discrepancies in prices, which financial engineers constantly search for. Furthermore, better financial instruments and laxer regulations in the future will provide precious opportunities for quant funds in China.

Aware of my career goal in quantitative trading, the HR in XXX encourages me to work in their US headquarters after graduation, since the trading desk in the American market is the perfect place to learn innovative financial products and refined trading strategies. XXX also offers programs and positions suitable for graduate students like me. Her encouragement strengthens my short-term plan of working outside China.

After honing my financial mathematics skills in Stanford, I aim to focus on quantitative research in the US or Hong Kong, specializing on equity trading in Asian emerging markets. Meanwhile, I will learn quantitative portfolio management and risk control technologies.

After working for several years, I will go to Hong Kong and be an equity fund manager trading in China Market. Stanford’s courses such as Theory of Investment Portfolios and Derivative Securities will help me develop my own quantitative trading strategy, which will integrate the American experience with China’s conditions. It may entail three to five years to achieve steady return and establish reliable track records. Although difficult, these challenges further ignite my commitment to achieve the professional role I have set for myself.

1）基于自己的经历对实事进行分析，写出了自己职业发展的大背景： I ascertained that China will become a goldmine of quantitative traders in the next decade. 作者还提出了自己对实事现象产生原因的解释，体现了自己对专业领域的认识；

2）很清晰地指出自己的career goal 是quantitative trading, 并提出了自己毕业以后的short term plan；

3）又写明了工作几年之后的Long term plan.

4) 将自己的职业发展与学校项目相结合 ，指出Stanford的经历对自己实现职业目标的作用： Stanford’s courses such as Theory of Investment Portfolios and Derivative Securities will help me develop my own quantitative trading strategy, which will integrate the American experience with China’s conditions.

Example 4

Marketing

My years of experience in marketing have been the main contribution to my interest in pursuing an advanced degree with this emphasis. My years of working as a business analyst has helped me understand how a consumer explores a retail store, and how a business owner should design the store to maximize the customer experience and the store's profits. I hope that my time in the XXX program will solidify my knowledge of best business practices for solid profits for any retail business.

My ultimate goal is to secure a position as a senior marketing executive for a major retailer where I will be able to use my skills and knowledge to increase sales, connect with potential and existing customers and develop strategies that help to grow the business. I know the value that continuing education brings to the industry. I'm drawn to the program's benefits, especially the industry experts I'll have first-hand access to.

这个例子则是出自于一位工作经验相对丰富的申请者，本段的行文风格简单明了，直戳要害。 既在文段的前半部分用几句话突出了申请者的个人优势，也在文段的后半部分体现出了其对就读相关项目明确的预期收益。

整体文段传递出一种很懂行的感觉。同样的行文逻辑也适用于泛商科专业中那些实习经验或者工作经验较为丰富的申请者。 但需要注意的是，这个文段在力求简洁明了的同时，也没有省略一些具体的细节 ，比如“ how a business owner should design the store to maximize the customer experience and the store's profits”、“especially the industry experts I'll have first-hand access to ”。在模仿该文段的时候，各位同学也需要尤其主要添加细节，否则比较空，读起来会有一种泛泛而谈的感觉。

这种具体且清晰的职业发展的写法是非常有说服力的，适用于一些对自己的职业规划已经非常清晰的同学。值得一提的是，Career Plan也要与所申请的Program相结合，写清楚这个Program如何能帮你实现自己的职业发展目标。

总结篇：如何写好Career Plan

看了这么多例子，总结一下如何才能写好Career Plan吧：

① Career Plan要结合申请的项目来写 ，要清晰地表达为什么这个Graduate School可以帮助自己实现自己的职业发展规划，并且要给出很具体的描述。比如，一个申请Finance的同学，目标是毕业后进入金融机构做风险投资，选择地理位置在纽约或者芝加哥，可以明确出纽约或者芝加哥良好的地理位置可能带来的实习机会对自己职业发展的重要性；

② 要清楚自己申请的项目是更偏研究还是更偏应用，以及是如何帮助你实现自己的职业发展规划的。 比如，一个申请BA的同学，可以提到申请项目会学习到的有关统计和计算机的知识，会帮助自己掌握商业分析师需要的技能，增强自己就业的优势；

③可以提该项目的毕业生的就业去向 ，表明强大的校友网络和人脉资源，是如何帮助自己的职业发展规划的；

④ 清晰地写出自己的 short time plan 和 long time plan，以及自己的plan对该领域和社会有怎样的影响。 例如：某个法学专业的同学短期计划是考律师资格证成为执业律师，长期计划是成为合伙人开办自己的律师事务所，对社会的影响是关注未成年的心理健康问题，为国际的未成年人保护法领域贡献新力量。
