character 表达该意义时，用单数形式。

characteristic [C] 特征，特性，特色。一般用复数。

file 尤指计算机中的文件。

paper 指会议、工作等所用的文件、文献，也可指证件，如护照、身份证等，通常用复数。Her papers were all in order. 她的证件全都合法有效。
