The tale of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl is a love story between Zhinü and Niulang. Their love was not allowed, thus they were banished to opposite sides of the heavenly river. Once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, a flock of magpies would form a bridge to reunite the lovers for one day.

“牛郎织女”的故事是发生在牛郎和织女之间的爱情故事。他们的爱不为天庭所允，因此他们被放逐到银河两侧。每年农历七月初七，一群喜鹊会架起一座桥，让这对眷侣能有一天的重聚。

牵牛星（天鹰座） – Altair of Aquila

织女星（天琴座） – Vega of Lyra

天津四（天鹅座） – Deneb of Cygnus

牵牛星和织女星都是夏季大三角（Summer Triangle）的顶点星，正如传说中所述，两颗星隔银河相望。加上天津四，三颗星组成夏季大三角，都是各自所在星座（天鹰座、天琴座、天鹅座）中最亮的星。即使在大城市，只要避开强烈的灯光污染，这个几何图案也是清晰可见。
