Information sharing research is based on two contexts, one is a non-competitive environment and the other is research in a competitive environment.
Information sharing research in a non-competitive environment is divided into three areas, 1. Information sharing research that considers downstream firms having more information. 2. Information sharing research where upstream firms have more information. 3. Information sharing research where both upstream and downstream firms have private information.

Research related to supply chain information sharing in a competitive environment is considered in four cases 1. research on information sharing under downstream horizontal competition. 2. research on supply chain information sharing under upstream horizontal competition. 3. research on information sharing under upstream and downstream competition in the supply chain. 4. research on supply chain information sharing in the presence of competition in dual-channel supply chain channels.
