AP是什么？
AP课程通常根据CEEB制定的教学大纲予以教授,其难度相当于美国大一的基础课程。AP课程有19个学科和38门课程，如微积分、物理、化学、经济、英文写作、文学、环境科学、美国政治与政府、美国历史、欧洲历史、各种外语等，课程范围广，每个科目课程需要学习一年，学生可根据学校规定和自身能力选修一门或多门课程。

为什么要学习AP？
原因1：AP考试会为申请加分。
以往录取案例，通常来说，录取top 10的学生一般都有6-8门AP，成绩基本都是5分，有的学生有一两门4分；录取top 30的学生一般有4-6门AP，成绩4、5分；录取top 50的学生一般有1-3门AP，成绩大多也是4、5。当然并不是所有被top10录取的都有那么多AP，我们只是分析average的情况。在申请中，没有绝对的加分项，所有的申请材料都会被综合考量，评估。
之所以说会给申请加分，一方面因为AP课程本身就是大学先修课程的难度，如果一个学生可以在兼顾学校课业的同时，还能完成比较多的AP课程，并且取得不错的成绩，那这个学生的学习能力无疑是非常强的，学校自然可以相信你去了大学也可以适应他们的学术压力。此外，AP课程有助于锻炼学生的批判性思维，分析能力，学习能力等，所以学好AP也是这些能力的一种展现。而且对于参加AP考试的学生，也有专门的AP奖项，AP每年5月考试，奖项会在9月颁发，这个是可以作为学术奖项写到我们申请材料中去的。现在把奖项给大家附上了解下。

原因2：AP到了大学可以转学分或者置换某些课程
这样不仅可以节约学费，同时可以减轻学业压力，保证按时毕业。尤其是对于国际生，学习AP课程可以提前熟悉适应美国大学的课程，同时转换学分可以减轻大一的压力，帮助更好的过渡大一生活。
对于转换学分（credit）或者置换课程（placement）的政策，不同大学，不同学院，甚至不同专业都有自己特定的要求，普遍来说顶尖的大学像是哈佛，一般接受的最低分数是5分，个别专业也有4分的，好点的学校像Duke， Emory一般接受的分数是4-5，一般的学校最低接受的分数普遍是3分。众所周知，美国大学学费是按照学分来收费的，即学费总额=四年本科所需获得学分乘以每学分的金额。学分制由哈佛大学创立，目前美国大学都采用学分制。在美国的大学获学士学位，一般需要修120分左右的学分（但每个学校规定不一样，学分标准也不同），平均算下来每年大约30学分，每年学费在三万到五万之间，因此每个学分大约1000-1700美元。
下面给大家附上两个学校的AP政策，来帮大家解析下。
（Emory University 埃默里大学）
从上图中可以看出大部门AP课程Emory大学是接受的。像calculus-AB四分的话，可以获得三个学分，Math111这门课程就可以不用上了，可以直接再上更高一级的课程。在这里也提醒下各位同学，AP选择科目时尽量跟自己将来要选的专业挂钩，这样不仅可以提前了解下课程内容，而且可以置换更多课程。
（New York University 纽约大学）
纽约大学也接受大部分AP课程，除了AP English language and composition. 纽约大学微积分课程分为一、二、三册。如果AP微积分AB或BC为4-5分，就能获得四个学分，直接进入微积分2的学习；如果微积分BC拿了5分，就能获得8个学分，直接进入微积分3的学习。
转学时AP换的学分可转吗？
转学时AP是否可以作为学分转化主要看两点：
1 AP成绩是否达标
正如我们上边所说，不同学校，学院，专业对于接受的AP成绩的要求不一样，所以首先要看你的AP成绩有没有达到学校的要求。
2 AP课程是否匹配专业
AP课程有很多科目，哪些可以转学时作为学分转换，这个要跟你转的专业挂钩的。AP微积分课程一般都可以转，但是比如你学了AP艺术史，但是你要转商科或者工程，那这门课程是转不了的，所以还是强调AP课程的选择并不是漫无目的的随意挑选，而是要根据自己将来可能选的专业，也不要一味地哪个科目能考高分就选哪个，毕竟AP课程的学习也要花费大量时间，要充分利用。
总的来说，AP成绩利用价值还是很大的，由于AP采用的是英文原版教材，不仅可以快速适应美国大学的学习，还可以换取不错的学分，节省学费，也节约出大量学习时间可以用在其他学科的学习上，不过目前中国学生的实际情况是：高一、二主要时间都准备SAT和托福，只能在高三上学期的五月份参加AP考试，在申请学校的时候基本用不上这个成绩了，即便是这样，在上了大学之后还是还有用的，所以对于那些拿到offer或者刚刚申请递交完的同学，紧接着学习AP是个很好的选择。对于那些一心想出国，不准备参加高考的学生，那就高一尽早开始。
