该铜钱为元代惠宗(顺帝)至正十年(公元1350年)起铸造的圆形方孔大铜钱，正面为对读楷书“至正之宝”四个大字；背面上方有一个“吉”字，穿孔右边竖写“权钞”、穿孔左边竖写“伍钱”。“吉”字系指江西吉安，表明该钱铸造于江西省。穿孔右“权钞”两字可作银钞解，穿孔左边的“伍钱”为币值，即该钱等值银钞半两，或铜钱五百文。该钱乃元朝所铸直径最大的流通方孔铜钱。
“至正之宝”铸于元顺帝至正(1341—— —1368)年间，是在吉安铸造的铜币。由于元末农民起义，“至正之宝”还未正式流通就被迫停铸，因此极为罕见。
