“绅士厕所”解决女厕供不应求
在公众厕所的高峰期，往往能看到这样一种情景：男厕所进出迅速，来去自如，女厕所门前却往往排起长龙，一些内急的女士只能跺脚干着急。台湾东海大学工业设计系硕士班陈诗盛与赖昱儒设计出一种新概念厕所“绅士厕所”（Gentolet）是由。解决女厕供不应求的问题，并获得有“设计奥斯卡奖”之称的德国红点设计奖。
This unisex public toilet module, which straddles the male and female bathrooms, has been designed to ease the problem of long female queues.
这种男女通用的公共厕所设在男厕所和女厕所中间，设计初衷是为了缓解女厕所前排长队的问题。
There are often long queues for the use of women’s public toilets – a result of the fact that females can take up to three times longer than males to use the bathroom. Despite this habit, male and female bathrooms are typically the same size.
女士使用的公共厕所前经常排起长龙，每位女士使用厕所的时间能到男士使用时间的三倍多。尽管有这种使用习惯，男女厕所的数量经常相等。
Gentolet is a toilet module that has been designed to sit between the male and female bathrooms, and serve both. It increases the rate of cubicle use per unit area. When there are no male users, the toilet becomes accessible to the female side. When the door on the males’ side is open, the door on the females’ side is automatically locked, and vice versa. Privacy for each side is thus maintained.
“绅士厕所”建在男厕和女厕之间，男女均可使用。它增加了每一单位面积上厕所间的使用率。厕所间里没有男士使用时，女士可以入内。当厕所间位于男厕那边的门打开后，位于女厕这边的门就会自动锁上，反之亦然。因此能保证私密性。

家中设定“无屏幕时间”
很多人都说90后一代大部分都是“屏幕儿童”，在电视、电脑等各类屏幕前长大，生活中一刻也离不开屏幕，跟家人的交流也因为屏幕的存在而显得心不在焉。如今，国外不少家庭都会设定“非屏幕时间”，在这个时间段内，大家都得面对面交流，不得使用任何屏幕。
Non-screen time is a kind of tech-life balance strategy that all members of a family agree not to use any screen during certain hours of the day. These agreements may include: no screens before school, all mobiles on the landing at night, no calls at meal-times, etc.
无屏幕时间（non-screen time）是在生活中保证高科技设备使用不会过度的一种手段，所有家庭成员一致同意在每天的某些特定时段不使用任何形式的屏幕设备。这些协议包括：上学前不用屏幕、晚上不得碰手机、吃饭时不得打电话，等等。
Non-screen time isn't about abstinence but balance, and being "present" and connected.
非屏幕时间并不是一种限制措施，而是在保持平衡；是让每个人真正在场并且彼此互动相连。
与此同时，因为移动互联网的普及，各类屏幕间的信息传送和共享也更便利。由此，“多屏幕分享”就出现了。
在电脑上看到的某个视频想要一抬手就传到手机上，或者将移动设备中存储的文件一键传送到大屏幕或者电视上，这样的想法如今通过多屏幕分享（nth screen）技术都可以实现了。
The 'nth screen' has been lingering around the tech world for several years, but is expected to hit the big time in 2014. It basically means devices that are able to connect and share content between multiple displays. Sharing is caring, apparently, and companies will let you connect their devices together for a greater user experience. There is, however, a catch, as many companies will create connecting devices that can only connect to devices of the same brand. So your Samsung device may not connect with your Apple device. This is due to the company's need to keep consumers dedicated to their brand.
Nth screen在科技界游走已经好几年了，不过有望在2014年大放异彩。Nth screen指可以通过多个显示器连接并共享内容的设备，我们称之为“多屏幕分享”。分享就是关心，很显然，科技公司会让你把他们所有的设备都连接起来以获得更好的用户体验。不过，这里面还存在一个隐患，很多公司开发的连接设备只允许连接相同品牌的设备。所以，你的三星设备无法与苹果设备连接。这主要是因为公司需要保证消费者对其品牌的忠诚度。

温婉的“邻家女孩”形象
我们形容女孩子的词汇很丰富，小家碧玉、大家闺秀、热辣美女、气质美女以及邻家女孩，等等。在这些表述中，让人感觉最清新的大概是邻家女孩了。看到这四个字就让人有一种亲切感，觉得这姑娘很好相处，让人觉得舒服。
在英语里，“邻家女孩”的表述就是很直白的girl next door。或者，“邻家女孩”这个表述就是从英文里翻译过来的？
Every guy may have his specific girl-next-door prototype, but in general, girl next door is cute and sweet, usually makes a really great friend, she may be very attractive, and is modest about it.
每个男人大概对“邻家女孩”都有自己特定的形象记忆，不过，总体来说，邻家女孩就是甜美可爱的姑娘，她们可以跟你成为很好的朋友，长相出众却不张扬。
Picture your sister's best friend from when you were kids. In your mind she'll always be that 10-year-old cutie who played with you in the park. Similarly, she could be a friend's cousin whom you met at family occasions over the years. Or even a new employee at work who is shy and unassuming, but still gives you that "she seems so nice, I'd love to talk to her" feeling.
邻家女孩可能是你在某个家庭聚会上碰到的朋友的表妹，或者是公司新来的小姑娘，害羞又低调，但仍然给你那种“这姑娘真可爱，我想跟她说话”的感觉。

没事儿总爱瞎捣鼓？
大家现在都喜欢说自己很忙，有些人是真的在忙着做一些实事，而有些人可能是在瞎忙。他们一刻不闲着，来回转悠，什么都要过问，但其实，他们并没有做出什么实际的贡献。
Dude-fussingis when you go camping and someone feels a primal need to poke at the fire every 30 seconds, or when someone is barbecuing and they can't just leave the burgers alone.
Dude-fussing说的是这样的几种行为：出去露营的时候，有人差不多每隔30秒就要捅捅火堆，或者，出去烧烤的时候，总有人不停翻转烤架上的汉堡。这其实就是我们说的“瞎捣鼓”。
These actions don't have any real effect. But they are fussy and make a great show of effort at doing something to make it all better.
他们这些瞎捣鼓的行为并没有任何实际效用。他们只是喜欢瞎忙，很想表现出在努力做好某件事的样子。
Fuss这个词在英文中既可以做动词，也可以做名词，不过基本都表达了“大惊小怪，小题大做，过分关注”等信息，常用make a fuss about或者fuss about这样的固定搭配，在这里的意思就是rush around doing unnecessary things（瞎忙），我们来看个例句：
Stop all this fuss and do your homework.
别大惊小怪了, 去做你的家庭作业吧。

呆萌“机器僧”贤二走红
“呆萌”的机器人网红“机器僧”和普通机器人一样，它身高近60厘米，能跟人语音对话，能明白简单的指令；但不同的是，它身穿黄色僧袍，会说佛经佛法，还动不动就说“我去问问我师父”。这个名叫贤二的机器僧，出家在北京龙泉寺，于2016年4月走红网络。

品味“舌尖上的高潮”
Something ingested through the mouth that has an extremely amazing taste. The "-gasm" referring to amazing.
吃下美味食物后，会感觉味道棒极了，这就是“舌尖上的高潮”。"-gasm"指的是食物美味至极。
例如：
Tyson had a tonguegasm whilst eating Sichuan food.
泰森吃川菜时会体味到“舌尖上的高潮”。
When your mouth is coated with ma la, water tastes like flat ginger ale. One Sichuan devotee I know describes the ma la sensation as a “tonguegasm.” The pulse increases and the pupils dilate, often accompanied by a postnasal drip. The brain floats in a euphoric ether.

大写锁定语调：在沉默中爆发
平时和颜悦色，不太会高声跟别人说话的人，他们并不是真的没有脾气，只是他们没有遇到忍不可忍的事情而已。这样的人在爆发的时候，往往有种不怒自威的气场。
Caps lock voicerefers to the authoritative and raised tone used by a normally calm and quiet person when he/she has had enough of someone or something. It is the equivalent to using the caps lock key in the digital world to show your strong emotion.
Caps lock voice指平时冷静沉默的人在对某人或某事忍无可忍的时候转而采用的一种提高了音调且颇有威慑力的说话语调，这种方式相当于在网上聊天时用全部大写的方式表达自己激烈情绪，所以，就叫“大写锁定语调”。
我们来看两个例句：
Sara tried to get an attitude with me yesterday and I had to turn on my caps lock voice and put her in check.
昨天Sara想跟我耍脾气来着，我只好转用我的大写锁定声调把她压下去。
Chris was being run over at work, so Jason told him it was time to turn on his caps lock voice.
Chris在单位被同事各种碾压，Jason跟他说他应该换个态度跟他们相处了。
我们人类作为社会动物，在不同的场合、面对不同的人，说话用不同的语调都是很正常的。我们再来看生活中经常会用到的两种语调。
People voiceis the voice that someone uses when talking to strangers or people they are not familiar with. This voice is automatically happy, nicer and sweeter than their normal voice. It is often with a higher pitch. This is often the voice people use when answering a phone call or when working in retails.
“生人语调”指人们在跟陌生人或者自己不太熟悉的人说话时使用的语调。这种语调一般都不自觉地比正常语调要显得快乐、更友好也更甜美，而且声调通常也比较高。人们在接电话或者在零售业工作的时候会用这种语调说话。
Girlfriend voicerefers to the change in pitch or tone of a man's voice when talking to their significant other. The girlfriend voice is characterized by a higher pitch and a more effeminate tone with speech patterns scattered with pet names and childish words.
“女友专用调”指男士在跟自己的另一半说话时声调和语气上的变化。这种变化主要体现为：声调提高、语调更显温柔，并且不时夹杂着各种爱称和幼稚的语言。

穷困的“礼物寄生族”
集体凑钱给某人买礼物的时候，有些手里不宽裕或者着实不肯出钱的人，总是缩在后面；可到了送礼物的时候，他们却积极走在前面，在礼品卡上加上自己的名字，表明自己也是送礼物的人之一。
Gift parasiterefers to someone who doesn't contribute anything in preparing the gift but wants to add his/her name to a gift tag in order to claim partial credit for giving the gift. They are doing this either because they are broke or because they just do not want to spend that money.
Gift parasite（礼物寄生族）指准备礼物的时候完全没有参与或付出，却在送礼物的时候想要在名卡上加上自己的名字，以表示这礼物也有自己的一份。他们这样做要不是因为实在没钱，要不就是他们压根不想在这礼物上花钱。
For example:
I'm totally broke so I had to be a gift parasite and sign on that present you're giving Grandma.
我实在没钱了，所以只能在你送给奶奶的礼物上蹭个名儿了。
